Description

Good health starts with what you put in your shopping basket.  Healthy eating means you need to shop for healthy foods, but if you’re not used to it, walking through the aisles can be stressful and confusing. What should you buy to keep your family healthy? Refined or unrefined? Non-hydrogenated fat or trans fats? And what about sugars and artificial sweeteners? It can all be very overwhelming.

This is why I offer a Personal Grocery Shopping Tour – to help guide you through the mass of ambiguous labelling, confusing terminology and processed foods.

Shopping for healthy food is all about learning how to make the best choices and bring back your excitement for food. You don’t have to spend a fortune to be able to prepare delicious and nutritious meals. With healthy products and their factual labelling, you can make a positive impact on you and your family’s health.

I can introduce you to groceries that promote healthy living as we walk through each aisle, I will point out healthy options and alternatives and which aisles you would be better off to avoid altogether.

Your Personal Grocery Shopping Tour will be tailored to fit your specific health needs and goals. I will show you how to properly read nutrition labels and discuss the differences between the healthy and unhealthy ingredients and the possible effects on your health.

This 60-minute tour is fun, educational and also gives you time for any questions you may have.

At the age of 67 and with a lifelong interest in food (!) and having searched and researched healthy diets, I thought I really knew my food and nutrition. However, finding myself feeling increasingly unwell and overweight I wanted to make sure that I was doing my best.

Wow, the shopping trip was eye-opening! Yes, I eat a lot of vegetables and fruit but Lenka explained which ones are better, which ones to avoid and how to check the condition of each product. She takes you carefully through what you usually buy and discusses the merits of these and then suggests some new things to try and how to select these.

Having done the fresh produce we then moved on to the chilled aisle and dry goods and here Lenka explained how to read the labels and explained about processing and additives. She doesn’t judge you for what you are currently buying but I found her suggestions for new things to try very helpful indeed (I didn’t like them all but you don’t know till you try!) she even suggests healthier ‘treat’ options in several areas. Reading the ingredient labels on your usual foods with someone who can actually explain what they mean and what some of the strange substances in our food are is a real revelation and sets you up for making better choices on your own. Lenka is more than happy to answer any questions you have about food and nutrition as you go around your chosen shop, which is extremely helpful for people like me who rarely have all their questions lined up beforehand.

Once we had completed the grocery shopping I was amazed that Lenka also offered advice about cosmetics and cleaning products and explained how much impact all the things we use on our skin and in our daily lives can have on our health and well-being. Some of the chemicals we are being sold for these purposes are quite ghastly!

I would say that even if you are pretty confident that you know what you are buying, eating and using, this shopping trip is time very well spent and if you are at all unsure – do it now and start improving your wellbeing immediately.
